procession

Postby Giggles63! » Tue Jul 20, 2010 6:06 pm

Every year on a Saturday round about the beginning of the summer 8) holidays we are impressed by a procession which goes along Leahurst Road, past the off-licence at the bottom of Ennersdale Road and along the one-way bit of Leahurst Road in the wrong direction. It is supported by Asian people, possibly Hindu? Anyone know anymore about it? And is it due this Saturday? Thanks!!

Could be a Sikh festival maybe... I know they have processions before the birthdays of their holy Gurus.

Edited to add-

Could it be this festival? http://www.sikhnet.com/notice/guru-har- ... as-23-july

It has just passed my house and a friend discovered they are Tamil and the celebration is 'Tea' (not spelt correctly or probably pronounced as such but the music was loud!) They are Hindu. Beautiful procession though and it is always a really sunny day whenever they celebrate! x
