How does your garden grow?

Postby hamblemary » Thu Jun 03, 2010 8:58 am

Do you have a kitchen garden?

A bowling green for a lawn?

Or mostly just weeds and rubble :P

My peonies and climbing roses are starting to flower.

60 views and still not a window box between you?!

Also: a mighty sycamore has to come down - any recommended local tree surgeons (with insurance!!)?

(Sorry about the orientation, but after 4 attempts imageshack insists this is the way it prefers my photo.)

 You have to get your pic the right way up on your puter, hamblemary - Imageshack doesn't realign them! Like this..

My small garden is more a back yard, covered in thick shingle.
However, the virginia creeper & jasmine from the neighbour's garden has (happily) encroached into mine, & the jasmine should be in flower soon! I have a few plantpots dotted around the edges, a couple of bird tables, a water feature in one corner, and a weather vane/wind hummer in the middle. It's sufficient for my needs & I hope to get it more colourful as time goes on - I only moved here in February.

I find some interesting stones in the shingle too!

My virginia creeper is only little atm, Im hoping it will cover an ugly wall.

Delivered straight into the junk mail folder!

I have an extra email account for freecycle/ stuff I buy online.

Anyway, I'll put up with a little spam for a free tree!

Clogsilk- We're all waiting!

The Rose season seems to be in full swing. Clearly the coldest winter in 30 years didnt hurt too much!

This climber cheers up a very dark corner.

Don't know what this is, but have a number of them in the garden.

Biccy - 'unknown' looks like a purple arum lily.

Has anyone noticed a distinct lack of butterflies this year?? Perhaps we'll see more when the buddhleia comes into flower. I hope so.

What brilliant shades of purple biccy!

Really brilliant purple petunias in the local hanging baskets too. I must congratulate HGCA and FUSS- the planters are looking brilliant in the sunshine and really cheer up the station entrances.

This isnt the best photo, but our jasmine is open too Helena. It fills the entire house with such a deep intoxicating scent. With the muggy evenings, the scent has been so incredibly heavy- our neighbours have commented.
